Today’s Private Investigators

By Paul Rene Jr

Hello, my name Paul Rene Jr., and I am a local Private Investigator and Security Specialist.  After serving in The United States Army, with tours to Afghanistan and Iraq, I began to search for a career which fit my special skill set in the civilian sector.  This search led me to this wonderful career which allows me to work in many different circumstances.

After some research I found that in order to provide personal protection in the state of Florida I was required to obtain sponsorship from an already established Private Investigation Agency and had to fill out paperwork and pay the fees for a CC license.  One month after my ETS in May of 2005 I was picked up by one of the most prestigious agencies located here in central Florida. A lot of credit goes to my mentor, friend, and business partner as we still handle cases together throughout all these years.

In this article I’d like to set the record straight to familiarize you with exactly what the duties are for a Private Investigator and an Executive Protection agent so you can get a better understanding of what I do. Now I can’t take all of the credit for my success. Throughout the years I’ve had the privilege to work with some of the best agents here in central Florida and nationwide. This has helped me maintain a database of over 20 elite individuals that can handle any task that the client needs at any time.

A private investigator (PI) is a person who can be hired by an individual or a company to undertake investigatory law services. Many of them work for attorneys, for insurance agencies, or for individuals looking for information. The old cliché is the PI trailing the husband or wife to see if they're having an affair. Private investigators should be professionals, licensed with adequate oversight, and with appropriate experience for the job they contract to do.

Usual Duties of Private Investigators:

- Perform undercover operations such as evaluating the performance and honesty of employees by posing as customers or employees for the client.

- Question persons to obtain evidence for cases of divorce, child custody, or missing persons, or information about individuals' character or financial status.

- Search computer databases, credit reports, public records, tax and legal filings, and other resources in order to locate persons or to compile information for investigations.

- Expose fraudulent insurance claims or stolen funds.

- Investigate companies' financial standings or locate funds stolen by embezzlers.

- Testify at hearings and court trials to present evidence.

- Warn troublemakers causing problems on establishment premises, and eject them from premises when necessary.

- Apprehend suspects and release them to law enforcement authorities.

- Conduct background investigations of individuals, such as pre-employment checks, to obtain information about an individual's character, financial status or personal history.

- Expose Infidelity, adultery, cheating, being unfaithful, and more.

- Conduct private investigations.

- Confer with establishment officials, security departments, police, or postal officials to identify problems, provide information, and receive instructions.

- Monitor industrial or commercial properties to enforce conformance to establishment rules, and to protect people or property.

- Observe and document activities of individuals in order to detect unlawful acts or to obtain evidence for cases, using binoculars and still or video cameras.

- Obtain and analyze information on suspects, crimes, and disturbances in order to solve cases, to identify criminal activity, and to gather information for court cases.
